Association Montessori Internationale
The Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) was founded in 1929 by Maria Montessori to maintain the integrity of her life’s work, and to ensure that it would be perpetuated after her death. AMI is the recognised international authority on Montessori education. During its long history AMI has fostered the growth and development of Montessori programmes and teacher training, and worked to support the development and education of children and young adults in a vast variety of settings throughout the world.
AMI is a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) represented at the United Nations (since 1985) and an NGO in operational relations with UNESCO (since 1962).

Die Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) wurde 1929 von Maria Montessori gegründet, die damit eine einheitliche Fortführung ihres Lebenswerks sicherstellen wollte. AMI gilt als international anerkannte Autorität auf dem Gebiet der Montessori-Ausbildung. Für die gesamte Dauer ihrer langen Geschichte unterstützte AMI das Wachstum und die Entwicklung der Programme und Kurse für Lehrer im Einklang mit den Montessori-Grundsätzen und war an der Entwicklung und Ausbildung von Kindern und Jugendlichen in verschiedensten Milieus weltweit beteiligt.
AMI ist eine Nichtregierungsorganisation mit Vertretung in der Organisation der Vereinten Nationen (seit 1985) und arbeitet mit der UNESCO (seit 1962) zusammen.
